The Jennifer Hudson Show

Remember that one time I got to visit the Jennifer Hudson Show!? It still feels like a dream.. I’ll be driving down the street and all of a sudden be like.. wait.. “I MET JENNIFER HUDSON!?” Will I ever get over it? Probably not. ANYWAY, I wanted to share some photos from my trip to Burbank with all of you!

I went down to LA with Alex from KCRA/my58, who I like to call my “Fairy Godmother” because without her, this wouldn’t have been possible.

We flew down from Sacramento mid-morning and as soon as we hit the ground, we raced to the hotel (made a pitstop at In-N-Out though for some lunch) and I met up with 2 lovely women to get some glam done! If I was meeting Jennifer Hudson.. I needed some GLAM.

Once we were done getting ready we were too excited to wait so we drove over to Warner Bros a little early. To say we were antsy is an understatement.

We pull up to the gate and we tell the security guard who we are and why we are there and he responds with, “You’re early!” and we both look at each other like, “Uh oh, is he not going to let us in?” to which he responds with, “I am glad you’re early.. it’s not like when Mario Lopez is running late and just speeds through checkin!”

Oh okay, we are name dropping celebrities now? Haha! Once we found parking, we got our Covid tests done and we were escorted to our dressing room! There were snacks and drinks available but I was way too nervous/excited.

After about 10/15 minutes of chatting with some of the Jennifer Hudson team and looking over my talking points, they brought us to our seats to view the live taping of her show! We were literally front row, center and it was incredible. They had a hype-man who was in charge of getting the crowd pumped up for the show, he was telling jokes, getting us cheering and dancing. It was like a huge party in there! They were also super strict about phones. Absolutely no photos or videos allowed in the studio. You couldn’t even take a SELFIE in there!

Once the show was over and the audience cleared out, we thought we would have some time to go back to the dressing room and freshen up before I went on stage with Jennifer BUT there was a change in plans which I am sure is typical in show biz. I had time to run to the restroom and that was about it. They lead me backstage and once I was behind the wall, they brought Jennifer back on stage to wait for me and as the camera crew was getting set up, I could hear Jennifer singing,”Madddyyyyyyy!” and I thought it was such a surreal experience! Haha!

Once cameras were in place, they gave me the green light to head out on stage and the rest happened in a FLASH! We hugged, we talked, she told me about her talk show and the reasons behind her decor. Jennifer Hudson was so incredibly welcoming and lovely. The entire experience was probably the span of 15 minutes, it all happened SO fast but the impact of this experience will last a life time!
